ABSTRACT:
A 23 page paper presenting a case study of Saudi Arabia's Jarir Bookstore in the first part, followed by another section identifying several strategic issues that can be used as points for discussion of the case. Jarir Bookstore is Saudi Arabia's leading computer hardware and software retailer. Most companies find sweeping economic changes challenging enough, without also having to deal with changing social values. Jarir Bookstore's position is that it already has begun addressing both. It will need to develop a clear strategy for itself for the future, one that will be beneficial for the company's financial future as well as be acceptable to Saudi society. The company occupies a position in which it is well known and highly respected, providing a forum for economic, technological and social commentary and change if the company chooses to pursue all of the opportunities available to it. Bibliography lists 21 sources.
